The Network currently operates as an Operational Delivery Network within a clearly defined governance and accountability structure, guided by a number of key objectives which form the Network Work Plan. The Network Objectives and Work Plan are set by the Network Board. Strategic objectives are linked to the NHS Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention Challenge.
- Q - To improve the quality of spinal care services and outcomes for spinal patients throughout the East Midlands Region
- I - To promote developments in spinal care pathways in order to spread best practice throughout the Network
- P - To maximise the availability of spinal care teams to improve the experience and outcomes for patients across the Network
- P - To minimise the requirements for spinal care.

Network objectives contribute to national targets and influence work undertaken in Trusts to achieve key performance targets. Participant members and member organisations continue to work together to better understand the patients and their needs; this includes the involvement of patients and their representatives through local and regional mechanisms.
