EPRR & Emergency Planning
The Network plays a pivotal role in emergency planning for Major Trauma in the East Midlands region and has long recognised the importance of managing and planning for emergency events.
EMERGO Exercises and Training
Members of the Network Management Team are trained Senior Emergo Instructors. This training and subsequent skill set enables the team to design and deliver emergency exercises utilising the Emergo Train System® (ETS); a research-based simulation system used for education and training in emergency and disaster management. The ETS is designed to simulate the process of an emergency response and can be used:
In 2015 the Network worked with Emergency Planning colleagues to design and deliver a major trauma regional exercise (Exercise Autumn Power).
In 2018 the Network facilitated a regional workshop “The Medical Response to a Mass Casualty Event following Terrorist Attack”. This proved to be an effective workshop and delegates requested that this be repeated in the future.

- as a training and exercise tool for decision-making in complex emergencies
- to assist personnel involved in planning and managing the response to major incident
- to assess how different outcomes could have been achieved (e.g. in terms of lives saved and quality of treatment) if different decisions had been made.
